Neoplasms of the salivary glands are lesions of low incidence, representing about 3% of head and neck tumors, a feature that highlights the lesions of the salivary glands are their great heterogeneity and histologic complexity. Fine Needle Aspiration (FNA) is a known diagnosis method and used to diagnose head and neck lesions, including lesions of salivary gland. This review main objective is to analyze and describe the cytological findings by diagnosing method of FNA of different tumor lesions of the salivary glands. From the point of view clinical-pathological, it is important the pleomorphic adenoma, accounting for 60% of salivary gland tumors, thus represents the pathology that is most often observed. Taking into account the complexity of cytological diagnosis, it is important correlate the clinical data of the patient and cytological findings in order to deliver an accurate diagnosis.
