The spectrum of clinical manifestations of disease by Streptococcus pyogenes are many and varied, invasive disease is defined as the resulting isolation of the bacteria from sterile sites in the body. The lack of timely recognition increases the risk of morbidity, mortality and potential disabling consequences. The objective of this research is to present two cases of severe disease secondary to Streptococcus pyogenes highlighting the importance of disease spectrum beyond boundaries of the oropharynx, as were the severe form of skin infection with toxic manifestations, necrotizing fasciitis and second pulmonary invasion during chickenpox. The study allowed us to reaffirm the susceptibility of Streptococcus pyogenes to penicillin and timely recognition is able to modify favorably the course of the disease.
Keywords: Isolation, empyema, necrotizing fasciitis, chickenpox.
